Everything Maple's Sprouts
Every year as far back as I can remember, my mom cooked Brussel sprouts for Thanksgiving & Christmas dinner. I hate them...I truly do, and in general, I don't hate any vegetables, but these little golf balls with attitude just don't sit on my palate well. I decided I needed to find a way to make them more enjoyable. Here you go folks:
500g (1 lb) of brussel sprouts, washed (peel off the any coarse outside leaves, and trim the ends)
toss into a pot of boiling water for 5 min,
6 slices of bacon cut into 1/2" pieces
15 g (1tbsp) finely chopped onion
15 ml (1 tbsp0. Maple Roasted Garlic Dip Mix
15g (1 tbsp). chopped walnuts or pecans
In a hot, dry skillet, toss the nuts until fragrant (5 min).
Remove and set aside, next crisp the bacon. When the bacon is nice and crispy, toss the brussel sprouts into the pan. Coat with the bacon drippings and let them brown just a little (5 min).
Put them into an oven proof dish. Drizzle with Maple Roasted Garlic Dip Mix. Bake for 10 - 15 min in a 350 oven until nicely caramelized. Sprinkle with toasted nuts. Now, even I can enjoy Brussel Sprouts!
