UPDATE
Members are pleased to report that during the time period of February 25 and March 4, 2015 there were no personal injury or fatal collisions on Highway 93 in Southern Georgian Bay OPP patrol area. Officers on directed highway patrol charged 14 persons with speeding offences and 9 other Highway Traffic Act charges were issued including 2 Careless Driving charges in relation to 2 property damage only collisions.
R.I.D.E. checks were also conducted which resulted in 223 vehicles being checked for signs of impairment and one roadside screening device test was administered.
The reduction of personal injury (PI) and fatal collisions is paramount and to achieve this goal a group effort between road users, officers and road maintenance crews is most important to keep our roadways safe. Road users play a big part and are reminded that emergency 911 calls to police are permitted to report sightings of unsafe vehicle operation and impaired driving occurrences.
