Serenata is very excited to announce our new Musical Director, Victoria Warwick. With degrees in Education, Music Performance and Collaborative Piano, and years of experience as National Director of Conservatory Canada -- Midland native, Victoria Warwick brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to her new position.
“Although I have had the privilege of conducting many choirs over the years, until now I have never had the honour of conducting a community choir,” says Warwick. “I look ahead with much anticipation to the journey Serenata and I will take together, with a fresh outlook and keen enthusiasm for making music!”
Ms. Warwick is an advocate of music collaboration, which exemplifies Serenata Choir’s revitalized spirit under her direction. Anticipating that the choir will soon be forging alliances with the many accomplished groups of Midland and area, she says: “There is a tremendous wealth of musical talent in this area... and everyone benefits from these collaborations - audience and participants alike.” She adds, “I am so happy to be back home and to be part of it!”
Serenata Choir’s new direction also includes a new rehearsal time, which will provide a fresh opportunity for amateur voices to share in the joyful experience of song. Weekly practices are now on Wednesday nights from 7 to 9 pm at Calvary Baptist Church in Midland.
Of course, distinguished pianist, church music director and long-time Huronia resident, Mr. Bob Bruer, will continue to accompany Serenata Choir as it prepares for upcoming performances in November, December, February and May.
