Did you know almost half of the service calls we make, are due to thermostat issues. Check the batteries in your thermostat, and if your thermostat is older, it may be time to upgrade to a programmable thermostat.
Programmable thermostats make it easier to control your heating system and your energy bills.
A programmable thermostat works automatically: you set it once and it will continue to adjust the temperature for you automatically. You can set it to turn down your heat to 16ºC every evening when you go to bed and back up to 21ºC in the morning before you get out of bed, so it’s comfortable when you get up.
You can choose the times and temperatures that best suit your family or your business. Keep in mind, though, that heating costs rise about five per cent for every degree above 20°C that you set your thermostat. Most people are comfortable:
sitting reading or watching TV at 21ºC working around the house at 20ºC, and sleeping at 16ºC. The key is to establish a regular program that automatically reduces your heating (and cooling, if you have it) at those times when you don’t need as much. Depending on where you live, simply turning the heat down from 21ºC to 16ºC at night could save you as much as 10 per cent on your energy bills.
