My daughter and I went to the Royal Tea Room and had a wonderful time. I want to say what a beautiful little gem this place is. The 3-tier platter was delicious, with all the traditional treats. The service was great! They took care of us from the moment we walked in; the experience was perfect…right down to the check tucked into an old book. A special thanks to everyone at the Royal Tea Room…I cannot wait to go back!

My friends and I were made to feel very welcome, and the atmosphere was very British. The food was tasty and filling; the scones were lovely with the jam and clotted cream. The store is just like shopping at Tesco, or maybe Harrods!

Here is why we gave this lovely place 3 stars after 2 visits. We are locals who are delighted to see a new tea shoppe in Midland. We loved the design features, the British retail food area, and the fresh baked goods. But--the music seems to be exclusively 60's pop vocal rock, too loud, which gets unpleasant after the first few minutes & works against a tea room setting. There are centuries of English music, including relaxing 1940's ballads, which would suit the food and the charming atmosphere far better. Our soup and tea was very good, but the sandwiches all arrived on white bread with crisps, and no options (such as croisssant etc.) were mentioned by the friendly waitress. We are looking forward to writing a 5-star review next time!
