I give Al's Moving 1 star for effort in up loading all my belongings on the truck in 2 hours, of which I did thank him for but he didn't care ... other then that: 1. He has a 'big' personality; 2. He is a 'big' talker and very abusive verbally; 3. Speaks down to his staff; 4. Interferes when not required; 5. Wouldn't let me confirm or sign a contract; 6. Tried to bully payment out of me without confirming the contract and the amount, before off loading my property; 7. Verbally threatened me, drove away with my belongings yelling "It's going to cost you $1,000/day every day your stuff is on my truck", forcing me to call OPP who intervened; 8. OPP has dealt with Al before, so that is a huge red flag; 9. Think of it this way, do you pay for your groceries before you pick them out?; 10. I ended up paying him, they off loaded my property, I had to ask for a receipt, never got a paper copy of my contract however I have a photo. Conclusion: DO NOT HIRE THIS GUY!! I will be very shocked if there will not be some of my valuables broken upon my opening them. He is abusive, not even sure it is a legitimate business yet he claims HST with only cash payments. To his staff: you are better then working for "Al", work for someone that treats your hard work with respect.
If I could rate this firm lower than one star, I would. The packing service was a disaster. One person was sent to my apartment with too little packing materials and badly underestimated time. The move was on January 31st 2018. My furniture arrived dirty, scratched, and apparently was shipped on its side in the van as the contents of the drawers was all to one side. Clothing that was to have been hung in wardrobe boxes was used as packing material! Even my new range was scratched. A lamp was broken and the tires and wheels that I paid to have delivered to the Jeep dealer at my destination ended up in my living room. I made the error of giving Al the bank draft before I learned about the tires. This man was surly throughout the move. He told me about having his cousin take the tires out of my living room. That was not so. I had to arrange to move the tires on my own. I have photos to prove damages and undone work.
Doug and I have used Al's Moving 3 times! We have always been very pleased! 2x on a very large move and then they moved my office from the basement to the main floor. They did a great job as always! Thanks guys! Mary and Doug Archer, Tiny ON.
Last month I had Al's move us a short distance, I was not pleased of how slowly they worked. A move that should have taken between 3 to 4 hours if used a different company as done many times before, took 6.5 hours. Never in my life have I had to pay as much as they charged me it was livid, His young helpers joked around took too many breaks and just over all moved like snails. I would not recomment Al's to anyone.
If you are considering using Al?s Moving please be aware of the following incidents that I experienced: ? There is no address published for this firm nor will they provide one ? When asked who the Directors of the firm are ? they will not provide that information either ? You do not receive a copy of anything signed with them ? If you use Mastercard they do not have a vendor agreement with them and in my dealings I was billed from a company called Chamese Midland - that is not a moving company ? It is questionable if this is a registered business ? They charge HST and yet there is no way of confirming that the number applies ? Missing and broken items will not be acknowledged by them nor do they provide any discussion IF they have business insurance ? Timeframe of your move is at their discretion ? Shop Midland takes no responsibility in verifying a business and all that is required for them to post a free listing is an email address and phone number
Regretfully you have no course of action to pursue any legal process due to their inability to cooperate - It is a case of ?buyer beware? and should be noted
Thank's for moving the giant roll of 50lbs fast wire. That's what I call hand's on small hands but great job man that was a dirty job but everyone can sure depend on Big Al the one of the most well known men in Ontario.
We contacted Al's through ShopMidland.com yesterday. Greg replied right away and in fact was able to prioritize our heavy awkward move the next day. We had a very heavy item that we thought was impossible to move, Al's moving team moved it with ease and care up and down multiple flights of stairs.
We would definitely recommend Al's to anyone looking for a great moving company with reasonable prices, Thanks Al's
