Thru the YMCA Employment Centre’s significant contribution to supporting local employment, we have seen a growth in qualified pre-screened applicants through our partnership. Also as a result of the Y’s retention strategies supporting employers, we have seen our turn over rate of new hires decrease as they become a productive members of our team.
Even with a wide skill set and professional experience, I was struggling to make connections with employers who were seeking “good employees”. Like most, this was eroding my self-confidence and my outlook. Registering at the YMCA introduced me to professional and experienced support that made all the difference. There was no standing still as I worked to match my documented background with specific opportunities and present them in a tone that engaged employers. My approach and level of engagement were improving. The service provided access to opportunities through their established connections and this provided my big break. Simply put, my success resulted directly from my job coach reaching out to a contact I would not have had access to otherwise. Once provided with the opportunity, I was able to showcase what I had to offer. I cannot thank my job coach and support staff enough for their professionalism, dedication to my cause, and enthusiasm for their work. I have taken the next step on my career path.
I truly think that I found a job now that I would be happy having the rest of my life. I even thought about advancing my education in child care through the YMCA.
How would you recommend the YMCA Employment services out of a top score of 5?
For sure a 5, the most amazing helpful staff for those of us who really want to work. I give my thanks to each and every one of you whom has helped lead me in the right direction and helped me not give up when I felt so down.
