THE JERRY CANS – November 22

A performance not to be missed!  THE JERRY CANS were one of the most praised artists at the 2018 Juno Awards and they will be hitting the stage at MCC on November 22nd sponsored by Chigamik Community Health Centre.  The Jerry Cans are a distinctly northern, one-of-a-kind group. These fast rising northern stars create a blend of music inspired by their hometown of Iqaluit, Nunavut that features a unique mix of Inuktitut alt-country, throat singing, and reggae.
Have a listen below:

The band is committed to representing northerners and perform many of their songs in Inuktitut.  They are passionate about preserving the language and challenging common misconceptions about life in the Arctic.  Their music evokes the contemporary north and the spirited people that reside there, and they have rapidly developed a reputation for engaging both elders and a younger generation - which  have forced people to take notice of this high-energy group! Members include vocalist and guitarist Andrew Morrison, vocalist and accordionist Nancy Mike, violinist Gina Burgess, bassist Brendan Doherty and drummer Steve Rigby. Fun Fact: The band's name derives from band member Steve Rigby, who once trying to build a drum set out of old jerrycans. BOOK TICKETS!
