Canadians are on the verge of major changes with respect to Marijuana, now commonly referred to as Cannabis, and we need to be informed!
The "Our Health" group will give a presentation May 8 on Medical Cannabis. This presentation is timely and we promise it will be provocative. The focus will be medical use not recreational. We will save that for a later discussion.
Please join us to hear our diverse panel of experts and listen to their points of view and their discussion. Dr. Keith Rose will guide our panel to help weed through the issues, pun intended. Is Medical Cannabis legal? Is it safe? Which symptoms can be relieved? How does one obtain a prescription and access delivery? Is there a cost? What is the best way to administer Cannabis? Does one smoke it, apply it, or swallow it?
We are delighted to have four experts with us for this event. Mike Boivin is a pharmacist with a special interest in continuing education. Cannabis has been one of the topics on his blog. Dr. Jennifer Johnson, a family doctor from Penetanguishene, has researched the new guidelines from the College of Family Practice. Dr. David Bayfield, an ER physician at GBGH and a panelist on the inaugural “ Our Health” program in September 2016, has an active interest in addiction medicine. Dr. Kathleen Askland, a psychiatrist at Waypoint, is a researcher and clinician. She will provide her point of view on the potential interaction between mental illness and Cannabis.
