CALLING ALL SPORTS FANS!
Calling all sports fans!
Join us at the Midland Cultural Centre on Wednesday, January 17th for “A Day in the Life“ with sports personality Rod Black. Rod has been hailed as “one of Canada’s most recognizable and distinguished sportscasters.“ Growing up in Winnipeg, sports were always the focus of Rod‘s life. Since moving to Toronto with CTV and TSN, Rod has been involved in hosting and announcing almost every sport: hockey, basketball, baseball, football, tennis, figure skating, golf, curling, boxing, auto racing and horseracing. He was involved as a host or announcer at the 1992, 1996 and 2012 Summer Olympics and at the 1994, 2002 and 2010 Winter Olympics. Rod says, “my whole life is pretty much about sports. It’s not a job. It’s not a hobby. It’s a passion.” After 35 years and numerous awards, Rod concludes that he is “the luckiest guy in the world … to live, work and play in the toy department of life.” Rod has a connection to Midland. His wife, the former Nancy Knibbs, grew up in Midland. She is the daughter of the late Billy Knibbs, a former NHL hockey player.
Tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for students and available at the MCC Box Office or online. Doors open at 7 PM and the program begins at 7:30 PM in Rotary Hall.
