JANIS JOPLIN - THIS WEEK AT THE MCC
Capturing Janis Joplin both vocally and visually right down to the between song banter, Krista Blondin captivates her audience with her remarkable portrayal of the legendary 60’s icon. Enthralling fans of all generations, Blondin exudes raw emotion that often brings her audience to tears, taking them on an emotional roller coaster and musical trip down memory lane. Her show is so convincing, audience members have been heard to say, "they just witnessed Janis return from beyond!"
While the Mississauga singer herself is not from the area, she comes from four generations of Blondins who all lived throughout Tiny Township. Her great-great grandfather and his siblings settled in Lafontaine as farmers from Quebec in the 1800s. Her great great grandfather Isaie Blondin and great grandfather Ritchel Blondin both had farms on the 16th concession. Her father Roland lived in Lafontaine as a young child, where many of his aunts and uncles had farms in the area. Krista’s Grandfather Armand Blondin and Granduncle Albert Blondin also had several hundred acres of Christmas tree plantations around the 18th concession, some of which are now part of Awenda Provincial Park.
“I’m really excited to bring the show here” said Blondin. “We used to visit the Tiny Township area to visit our Grandmother and cousin’s in Lafontaine as kids. It would be really neat to know there could be relatives including my Godmother Germaine Arbour (who lives in Midland) in the audience. Basically, if you are a Blondin, Marchildon, Maurice, Robitaille, Marchand, Desroches, Desrochers, Gignac, Dorion, Lalonde, Langlade, Moreau, Laurin, Bellehumeur, Forget, St. Amant we would be related. I’ve never performed in an area where I have such a family history and so many relatives!”
Piece of My Heart is known for sold out shows, standing ovations and top-notch musicians from the Greater Toronto area. Travelling as far as San Francisco for corporate functions, Blondin’s band has been the highlight of multiple summer of love, Woodstock, and 60's themed events. Krista’s ability to emulate Janis has also led to awards and nominations in both Florida and Las Vegas honouring the industries best celebrity impressionists.
