Our Intimate Spaces Concert Series, sponsored by Desjardins, kicks off this Sunday and is an up close and personal experience for the audience. Our first performer in this series is the award winning SUZIE VINNICK. Suzie will be hosting a blues guitar workshop for beginning and intermediate guitarists in the afternoon, which has already sold out, followed by a performance in the evening. Suzie Vinnick is a 10x Maple Blues Award winner, 3x Juno Nominee, and was a Finalist in the 2013 International Blues Challenge Solo/Duo Category in Memphis, TN. She was also the winner of the 2012 CBC Saturday Night Blues Great Canadian Blues Award and the 2012 SIRIUS/XM Blues Artist of the Year has released a new album entitled Live At Bluesville, a collection of roots, blues and gospel tunes featuring Suzie and her parlour guitar, Mabel.
On November 2th we have BILLY BISHOP GOES TO WAR, the award winning Canadian musical. This show dramatizes the life of Canadian World War 1 fighter pilot Billy Bishop and is one of the most famous and widely produced plays in Canadian theatre history. Don’t miss this one!
PIECES OF MY HEART: JANIS JOPLIN TRIBUTE will take the stage on November 17th. Capturing Janis Joplin both vocally and visually right down to the between song banter, Krista captivates her audience with her remarkable portrayal of the legendary 60’s icon. Enthralling fans of all generations, Krista exudes raw emotion that often brings her audience to tears, taking them on an emotional roller coaster and musical trip down memory lane. Her show is so convincing, audience members have been heard to say, "they just witnessed Janis return from beyond!"
Looking for something new to do for your office holiday party? Or maybe you are looking for a fun girls night out? Or a great time out with the family? The MCC has a new event November 24th and December 7th where patrons can enjoy a buffet dinner (provided by Cafe Roxy) and the award-winning comedy group Good Morning Apocalypse perform their brand-new adult-themed Christmas comedy revue: COAL PATROL.
Leave the little ones at home with visions of sugarplums dancing in their head, because there’s stuff in this show that will put anyone in the Naughty List. From a Batman hellbent on stopping kids from singing “Jingle Bells, Batman Smells,” to the moment that Rudolph finally snaps from all the insults and abuse, to the production problems at the Red Ryder BB Gun Factory, every character in this comedy revue is poised to get a lump of the black stuff in their stocking this holiday. Forget Red and Green.. This Christmas, we’re getting Back in Black! Corporate and group rates are available for this one!
Fan favourite, PAVLO also returns to the MCC on November 25th. Pavlo's distinctive melodies and unmatched guitar skills create his signature Mediterranean sound which blends the folkloric styles of his Greek heritage with Latin music and pop sensibilities. Performing two separate concerts in one night, Pavlo will fill Rotary Hall with an infectious mix of world rhythms and classical guitar virtuosity.
