ANDY KIM - OVER 30 MILLION RECORDS SOLD!

Over 30 Million Records SOLD!
ANDY KIM
at the MCC on October 6th.

Born in Montreal, rock indie pop singer/songwriter Andy Kim was inspired by the Beatles, Hank Williams, Frank Sinatra, Elvis, Buddy Holly, and Bob Dylan. He found fame in New York City at just 16 when he wrote How’d We Ever Get This Way? the first of nine Billboard Top 40 hits, including #1 songs Rock Me Gently and Sugar, Sugar, one of Billboard’s “Greatest Songs of All Time.” A true Canadian son, Andy has been awarded the country’s top industry honor twice, the JUNO Award for outstanding achievements in the record industry, as well as the “Indie Award” for Favorite Solo Artists in 2005. Over his epic career, Andy has sold over 30 million records, with songs covered by music history’s greats, including Wilson Pickett, Tom Jones, Ike & Tina Turner, and Bob Marley and has even been said to influence 80s metal band Def Leppard. He has recently performed and co-wrote songs with Ed Robertson of the Barenaked Ladies and Ron Sexsmith.

More about Andy Kim:

- Andy Kim was born Andy Youakim

- Andy Kim is the third of four sons of Lebanese immigrants. He moved to New York to pursue a career in music. He issued his first single in 1963.

- He recorded as "Andy Kim", using the different last name as a way to obscure his Lebanese ethnicity.

- In 1968, with Jeff Barry, Kim co-wrote "Sugar Sugar" which was a hit single for The Archies reaching #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and ultimately becoming the RIAA Record of the Year.

- In 1976, Kim altered the spelling of his pseudonym to Andy Kimm, and released a few singles under that name on his own Ice Records label in 1976 and '77. Shortly thereafter, he adopted the stage name Baron Longfellow and issued the first single ("Shady Hollow Dreamer") under that name in 1978.

- In March 2005, Kim received the annual "Indie Award" for Favorite Solo Artist during Canadian Music Week for the music video for "Love Is...".
