This program might not catch your eye. But believe me, you won’t want to miss it.My guest on May 31st on “A Day in the Life” is Duncan McCue. He’s known to many of you as a CBC reporter, Rex Murphy’s successor as host of “Cross Canada Checkup”, and last week’s host of “The Current”.But there is so much more to Duncan than his day job.He is Anishinaubae, a member of the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation. He is the first Indigenous person to host a mainstream show at CBC.He grew up in a traditional and culturally strong household. When he was in public school, his family moved to James Bay.After graduating from high school, he lived on the land in Northern Quebec with a Cree family, learning to hunt, fish and trap. There he learned his own identity. He later wrote a book about that time called “The Shoe Boy: A Trapline memoir.” The book will be on sale at “A Day in the Life.”He left his community to go to university, earning an English degree from the University of King’s College and then a law degree from UBC.Join us for a firsthand look into the life of a CBC personality who is an Indigenous man committed to improving the prospects of his people.“A Day in the Life” with Duncan McCue.
