I just had to send another email out to tell people about the Lorretta Bailey show called On My Own running tonight through Saturday in the HP theatre. Often, with shows running in both venues, and a facility full of people, it’s difficult for me to actually enjoy any of the shows or to even decide which one to check out.
Last night was just like that! In fact I poked my nose into On My Own with Loretta Bailey for just a moment and I honestly couldn’t leave. To say this show is special would be an injustice. I was literally riveted and couldn’t leave. Loretta’s charm, personality and singing abilities are engaging, heart-warming and not to be missed. From Sondheim (into the Woods), to Maria from the Sound of Music, even to a haunting Irish Folk song, she becomes the character as you watch. The thing is she actually has played these roles on the biggest stages anywhere, so with just her voice and piano accompaniment she recreates not just the song but the whole persona – YOU HAVE TO EXPERIENCE THIS SHOW!
