Brookside Music Association Presents: Desautels & Chong

Dominic Desautels, began studying clarinet at the age of 15 and made his debut as a soloist at the age of 21 with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, among the youngest musicians ever to be engaged by the ensemble. A musician endowed with great sensitivity and flexibility, he has shown himself to be a remarkable improviser performing within various music ensembles. He performs around the world as a chamber musician, recitalist, and soloist with orchestras, as well as on radio and television.

Pianist Tina Chong has established herself as an up-and-coming young artist in North America. Having made her orchestral debut at the age of nine, Tina Chong went on to appear as a guest soloist numerous times with orchestras throughout the United States, Canada, Brazil, and Mexico. Tina Chong’s recital career has brought her to such world-class venues as the Sala Chopin in Mexico City, the Sheldon Center in St. Louis, the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, and most recently, the National Arts Centre in Ottawa.

His songwriting and performing career spans almost four decades and is rooted deeply in the folk/blues/country tradition. In 1985 his tune “Mona With The Children” hit the top 20 in Canada and garnered a Juno nomination. Recently he has applied his songwriting and composing talents to the world of television and movies. Cameron is also an established children’s entertainer. On March 14 at the MCC, Douglas John will trace his musical journey in conversation and song.

EVAN CARTER (Headliner) This Toronto based stand-up comedian has opened for big name acts like Gladys Knight, The Temptations, Air Supply and Dionne Warwick. He has worked on a number of television shows, including his own half hour special on the CBC. His light-hearted and relatable material inspired by "life" will have you in stiches.

K. TREVOR WILSON (Feature Act)K. Trevor Wilson is no stranger to comedy competition. He won 2012 Just For Laughs Homegrown Comic Competition, he is the only two-time Toronto Comedy Brawl winner. He has also appeared on A&E’s Breakout Kings, Showcase’s Billable Hours, and CBC’s Winnipeg Comedy Festival.

STEVE COX (Emcee) started his comedy career opening for bands including The Barenaked Ladies, April Wine and Buddy Guy. His emcee/hosting roster includes a number of big-ticket events like the official Canadian X-BOX launch, Labatt’s Blue Game Show and General Motor’s Full Speed Event. Steve can also be heard on XM satellite radios "Laugh Attack".
