|
Description: |
Join host Fred Hacker as he welcomes a Judge from the highest court in the country. Only nine justices serve on the Supreme Court of Canada and it is considered the highest honour in the legal profession to be appointed to the Supreme Court bench. The judges on that court are the final level of appeal in our Canadian judicial system and have the final word on constitutional issues.
Justice Michael Moldaver grew up in Peterborough and attended the University of Toronto for both his undergraduate arts degree and his law degree. He graduated first in his class at law school, receiving the coveted Gold Medal. He practiced criminal law in association with some of the great names in Canadian criminal law history – Joseph Pomerant, Edward Greenspan and Alan Gold. He was appointed a Queen's Counsel in 1985 and was appointed as a judge of the High Court of Ontario in 1990. He was appointed to the Ontario Court of Appeal in 2005 and to the Supreme Court of Canada in 2011.
