A Quest Art School and Gallery exhibition featuring original works by the organization’s instructors will open Jan. 19. Each member will contribute at least one work for this exhibition. The show will also introduce the work of artists who have recently joined Quest in a teaching capacity. The faculty exhibition will open Jan. 19 with a reception from 1-3 p.m. at the Midland Cultural Centre. Guests will be encouraged to mingle with the artists to learn about their work and the courses they will teach in 2013. The exhibition runs until March 2 in the Atrium Gallery. Also at Quest, in the Upper Gallery, the “High Fibre” exhibition will feature traditional and contemporary approaches to fibre arts and textiles, including fibre-based mixed-media work. Guests will see work by community artists and members of the Georgian Bay Quilters Guild and the Huronia Handweavers. In conjunction with this exhibition, Quest will offer a three-day “Introduction to Weaving” workshop on Wednesdays beginning Jan. 26. The workshop is $60 for members and $65 for non-members, plus $15 for materials. A “Sculptural Needle Felting” workshop is being offered on Feb. 13 from 1-4 p.m. The workshop is $25 for members and $35 for non-members.
