Join us for the third in our series as host Fred Hacker is joined by Jerrold Karch, a Midland native who is an actor, educator, author and raconteur.
The conversation will certainly include reflections on the idiosyncrasies of small towns, things you could never do in the big city and how being Jewish created many hardships, anxieties and wonderful times in the life of a young boy in Midland in the 1950s and 1960s.
Jerrold Karch was born in Midland, the son of Phillip and Pearl Karch. Jerrold’s parents ran the Midland General Store.
Jerrold’s mother had dreams of Jerrold being a lawyer. But Jerrold was more interested in acting and music. He starred in several plays at MSS. Jerrold’s career went from actor to educator, from stage to classroom and back to the stage.
Today he is busy as a professional actor, while writing two plays and a book and
speaking on education subjects as well as on his early life. One of Jerrold’s plays is being considered by a Toronto Theatre Company.
Jerrold is married and has two adult children. His son is in a rock and roll band. There’s still acting and music in Jerrold’s life.
