HURONIA FOUNDATION FOR THE ARTS RECEIVES GENEROUS DONATION
Victoria Harbour - Lu Robitaille has developed a rather unique way to help her favourite charities. The area artist recently hosted a special Valentine's Day dinner at her home, raising $900 for the Huronia Foundation for the Arts.
Robitaille's fourth annual fundraising dinner attracted 30 friends, who each contributed an offering to attend the event. Her guests enjoyed warm ambiance, interesting conversation and a wonderful sit-down dinner while listening to gifted local musicians James Lortie and Darlene Plourde.
"The evening created a great home setting for new and old friends to meet and mingle," Robitaille explains. The well-known artist hopes others follow her lead. "Not everyone can commit to such a large crowd," she says. "But then again, when it comes to fundraising, every dollar made is found money."
David Hill, Chair of the Huronia Foundation for the Arts, gratefully accepted the donation, on behalf of the organization, from Lu Robitaille and her husband Bee. “Generous donations from our sponsors help to make our commitment as a Foundation to support all the arts a reality. It’s great to know there are such supporters like Lu who have a sincere conviction to strengthen arts and culture in our community.” Robitaille says, “Are you looking for a reason to help your favourite charity? I challenge you to make our community a place to be proud of. Together, we can make the difference.”
