WORKING AT HEIGHTS: Fundamentals of Fall Protection IHSA

Where: 105 Fourth Street, Midland, On L4r 3s9
When: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Description:
Working At Heights: Fundamentals of Fall Protection (IHSA)

The IHSA’s Working At Heights: Fundamentals of Fall Protection Certification training program is a requirement for workers on construction sites or projects who use any of the following methods of fall protection: travel restraint systems, fall restricting systems, fall arrest systems, safety nets, work belts or safety belts, and/or equipment that gets them at heights such as ladders and elevated lift platforms.  This includes roofers, window installers, electricians, framers, masonry workers, and all others on the construction site or project who are at heights.

The course includes a Basic Theory Module (3 hours) which covers rights and responsibilities, hazard identification, PPE requirements, warning methods, physical barriers, and ladder safety.  Module 2 is practical (3-4 hours) and includes hands-on use of equipment and procedures coving the proper use of fall protection equipment in a variety of systems.  Candidates must successfully complete both the theory and the practical modules, and demonstrate competency to complete course requirements and receive a temporary certificate.  Certification valid for three years.

There is a transition period for workers who, prior to April 1, 2015, met the fall protection training requirements set out in subsection 26.2(1) of the Construction Projects Regulation.
