As per CSA Regulation Z94.4-1: Respirator Fit Testing requires employers to fit test all employees required to wear a respirator on the job. Students in a nursing program also typically are required to be fit tested for N95 particulate respirators for their clinicals.
Whether it is a disposable N95 or R95 particulate respirator, half mask, or a full facepiece respirator, the Qualitative Respirator Fit Testing verifies a user's ability to obtain an effective seal and an acceptably comfortable fit for a selected respirator. The fit test also verifies that a user is able to demonstrate the required level of competency in donning and doffing the respirator, as well as inspecting it, and performing user seal checks.
