Purposes:

- Create awareness, interest and a positive vibe about the LYL project
- Provide information and ideas to support laneway and adjacent property improvements
-Gather input from businesses and citizens about the laneways project

Objectives:

- Show businesses and members of the public how laneway improvements can be of benefit
- Demonstrate the scope and content of similar projects
- Share specific ideas, techniques, etc. that have been used elsewhere
- Provide information on products/services and “green” technologies that are available
- Ensure we hear from people about what they would like to see in the improved laneways

Desired Outcomes:

- Businesses have a sense of the potential benefits in undertaking a back entrance improvement
- Businesses and members of the community have a better sense of what the laneway project is all about

Event content:

- Information displays, including the Love Your Laneways Project, the Downtown Master Plan, the “Big Dig”, “green” technologies for stormwater management, other laneway projects
- An input table where people can share their ideas about what they would like to see in the improved laneways and “back door” accesses to businesses
- A presentation by The Laneway Project, a Toronto organization that has extensive experience in laneway improvement projects in Toronto and other locations (6:30 pm).
