NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING FOR DOWNTOWN COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT PLAN

Please be advised that the Planning and Development Committee of Council of the Town of Midland will be holding a Public Meeting pursuant to Section 28 of the Planning Act on Wednesday, August 3rd, 2016 at 7:00pm, or as soon thereafter as possible, in the Municipal Council Chambers at 575 Dominion Avenue.

The purpose of the meeting is for Committee to hear comments on the proposed Community Improvement Plan for Downtown Midland. The lands to be included in the proposed Community Improvement Plan can be found here: www.midland.ca/community-improvement-plans

The purpose of the proposed Community Improvement Plan is to establish a program for municipal financial incentives to encourage the rehabilitation and improvement of private lands and buildings in Downtown Midland. The Community Improvement Plan provides policies that would enable Council to offer financial incentives to private property owners. These incentives are intended to encourage property owners to improve the appearance of their lands and buildings in accordance with guidelines adopted by Council.

Once approved by Council, the Community Improvement Plan would enable the Town to grant financial incentives to building and business owners under four programs: (1) Facade Improvement Grant Program (2) Building Renovation Grant Program (3) Application Fees Grant Program (4) Parkland Dedication Fee Rebate Grant Program.

Any person may attend the Public Meeting and make written and/or verbal representation. If a person or public body does not make oral submission at the public meeting, or make written submissions to the Town of Midland regarding the Community Improvement Plan before the Plan is adopted, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision of the Council of the Town of Midland to the Ontario Municipal Board and the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing or an appeal before the Ontario Municipal board unless, in the opinion of the Board, there are reasonable grounds to do so.

Once again details of the Draft Community Improvement Plan is available on the Town's website here: www.midland.ca/community-improvement-plans and at the Municipal Office and Midland Public Library. Additional information relating to the Community Improvement Plan is available at the Municipal Office during regular office hours.
