Hello Downtown Midland Members,
Please be advised that on Saturday, June 13th the street barriers will be positioned in such a way that store owners will be able to drive in and access their parking spaces behind their buildings.
In addition, Barb Rowlandson running the Butter Tart Festival is looking for a favour from Downtown Midland merchants. Barb has requested the BIA to send out the following:
Hello BIA Merchants,
We're doing our best to take good crowd measures at this year's festival, so that next year's committee will have some solid crowd numbers recorded should they want to apply for a Celebrate Ontario Grant. Celebrate Ontario requires hard numbers, not guesstimates, when applying for grant monies.
I've asked my festival vendors to keep track of the number of transactions they conduct during event day, and I'd like to appeal to some of our BIA merchants to do the same. If keeping track of the entire day's # is too challenging, even one hour's worth of tracking would be helpful. Many merchants will have a function on their cash register that reports number of sales conducted for the day. If even just a handful of merchants were able provide me with their # of transactions, it'd go a long way to both giving us crowd measures, and evaluating the economic impact of our event to our community.
I've already asked the Pebble Tree, and Joannie said she'd gladly provide those numbers. If we could get a few more stores to participate and add to the sample, that would be a real bonus for the butter tart festival in 2016!
