By: Drew Beausoleil,
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is a masterpiece!
Drake is back for one last adventure and this time he is bringing his brother along for the ride. Drake's brother Sam (played by Troy Baker) has
found himself in some rather hot water with a very powerful antagonist and with the help of our legendary hero Drake, they set out on one hell of an
adventure to resolve Sam's mis-fortune. Traveling the globe has always been apart of the Uncharted series. However, the Uncharted games have never taken the adventuring this far.
Remarkable landscapes, lush stunning jungles, beautifully populated cities are only the antithesis of how Naughty Dog as elevated Uncharted 4: ATE to
a whole new level.
Relationships were built over the last 3 Uncharted games and are fully fleshed out in this heart wrenching, breath taking adventure. The cast of
Nolan, Troy the rest of the cast feel as a family. A bond that has been there for years that connects with gamers, simply put...they're grounded. Knowing
when to be a smartass, pull on gamers emotions or make you laugh is a craft that Naughty Dog has created to perfection with Uncharted 4: ATE.
The core game mechanics feel very much like an Uncharted game. Solid cover shooting, lots of vertical scaling and sponge like enemies to shoot.
Naughty Dog did add the grappling hook to the gameplay mechanics and a few dialogue options that don't affect the out come of the story or gameplay.
But nothing too different, nor do I feel that it was necessary to make significant gameplay changes. This is the end of our pulp like action
hero's journey after all, or is it! Making too many changes would hurt what gamer's know and love about the Uncharted series
Uncharted 4’s multiplayer is smartly done with an effective grinding loop for progression and upgrades. The more you use a set of weapons or gear
the more you will be able to upgrade that particular weapon. The addiction for the more powerful weapons, unlocks, sidekicks and gear is what keeps
me coming back for more. Challenges will also add to the desire of wanting more. Each of the challenges grants you Relic points that will allow you to
spend in the MP store for new playable characters, items, and even accessories for your sidekicks. Game modes are typical and enjoyable. The
Command game mode is currently my favorite, each team holds down 3 locations on the map as they race to be the first team to reach 700
points. Each map has a variety of tunnels, pathways and vertical heights to scale and flank the other team, you never know where your next target
is coming from in Uncharted 4's MP.
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is an incredible masterpiece that should be in everyone’s PlayStation 4 library. Naughty Dog has once again outdone
themselves in their telling of Nathan Drakes final chapter. It’s a game I keep thinking about, a game I want to play more of but don’t want to the
story to end. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is the complete package!
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End - 10/10!
