It's fair to say that Nathan Drake is one of Sony's biggest
iconic hero's and a staple to the PlayStation brand. Naughty Dog has created
and grown with each new Uncharted title, giving us a caresmatic, grounded explorer
of the last generation of consoles. With Uncharted 4 - A Thief's End quickly approaching
in the not so distant future, we have a reminder of why we should be excited of
our next Drake adventure with the very well remastered Uncharted The Nathan Drake
Collection. All 3 Uncharted games bundled into one glorious package for us to
feast our eyes on once again, or if you're new to the PlayStation family and
missed out on Drakes worldly adventures...then you're in for one hell of a ride!
Uncharted The Nathan Drake Collection is an exciting thrill
ride of all the Uncharted games but without the multiplayer. No one brings us
remastered titles better than Bluepoint Games. Uncharted was already a great looking
game with the biggest graphical leap coming from Drakes Fortune to Uncharted 2
Among Thieves. However, Bluepoint didn't stop with just the beautiful graphical
upgrades, they also brought all three titles up to today's standards of 1080p/60Hz
gameplay. Now Drake and the rest of the outstanding cast look and feel better
than ever.
However, as good as everything looks and feels, I did experience
some graphical clipping and slight control problems when playing through
Uncharted 2. Drake would stick and stay clung to walls longer than the controls
felt like I should and when one of my favorite additions and elements of
Uncharted 2 was added, the new stealth gameplay, I would sneak up on a guard to
have Drake reach right through the guard the knock him out. Minor issues that
most gamers won't worry about but it was something I only experienced when playing
through Uncharted 2.
More game modes have been added as well. Brutal Difficulty -for
the insane gamers that are looking for the upmost challenge. Explorer Mode -
super easy game mode, for those who are looking to quickly catch up on the
story without worrying about battling their way through difficult AI. and
lastly, Speed Run - a mode to compete against your friends with. Also added was
the Photo Mode something that appears to be coming to all Sony first party
titles. (All screen shots were taken using this mode)
Naughty Dog has definitely created something very special
with the Uncharted series and it was extremely smart of Sony to have Bluepoint
bring one of the largest games from the PlayStation 3 generation into the life
cycle of the PlayStation 4 generation to allow those who love this series like myself
to enjoy Uncharted once again. But it was even smarter to allow those new to
the PlayStation ecosystem experience such a beloved series and get everyone excited
for Uncharted 4 A Thief's End. Also, picking up the Uncharted Collection grants
gamers access to the Uncharted 4 multiplayer beta. Not a bad deal!
Uncharted The Nathan Drake Collection is simply one of the
best collections of any generation. A must have for returning fans, and a must
buy for anyone coming into the PlayStation family!
