From a far far away galaxy, one of the largest franchises makes it's way to Disney Infinity 3.0. Most gamers may feel that Disney Infinity is meant for a younger audience. Those gamers are definitely mistaken. Yes the characters are more Pixar like in art direction (which is beautifully done) but there is a lot of game with the next iteration of Disney Infinity, especially those who love the Star Wars franchise. Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition Twilight of the Republic is a large undertaking from Avalanche Studio and Ninja Theory. Both studio's had some artistic freedom, but a lot of gamers hold the Star Wars universe near and dear to their hearts; so Avalanche and Ninja Theory needed to stay true to the franchise and it's fans. They do just that, they did an excellent job in portraying the Star Wars estedic in Disney Infinity as a Star Wars game. From the look and feel of Tatooine to exploring Nabu, Twilight of the Republic is a much welcomed franchise to the Disney Infinity universe.

Twilight of the Republic starts off with a rather basic and all too familiar tutorial that anyone returning to the series will know rather well. The game mechanics haven't changed all the much over last years 2.0 edition either. More polish, fluid controls, the return of the super meter and the upgrading skill tree is all there for us to delve into. But the gameplay feels all too similar to last years game with the usual combat mashing and platforming needed to complete each story mission. However, one of this year's biggest improvements is the universe and story that Avalanche has created within Twilight of the Republic. An exciting story with a great cast of noticeable character's that we all know and love that will have us scouring the galaxy far and wide as we try to help save the galaxy from dispare.

Besides this year's excellent cast and story, the Toy Box has seen a much needed overhaul this year. The new Toy Box Hub is our new central location to everything we access. From watching others with the Disney TV, to decorating your interior or learning to build your own toy box world and much more. Learning how to build your own toy box challenge is anything but easy, but with the help of the Toy Box Hub world character's to guide you through, they will help those who desire to build their own creations and bring them to life. More items have been added to the Toy Box as well, but instead of giving them to us right out of the box, (no pun intended here) they need to be purchased with the coins you collect as you play. Another layer to an already rather deep game.

My biggest disappointment though lies within the inability to use past play-sets from 1.0 and 2.0. I would like to have one Disney Plate for all of my play-sets and characters to be able to use, and not to have 3 of these set up if I was to go back to my Toy Story world or swing through the streets of New York as Spider-Man from 2.0. These all take up space, having over 50 characters takes up a lot of room, if we could use one Disney Plate and lose two of the older ones it would be a great step forward for Disney Infinity fans. Game mechanics may feel very familiar, but the cast and locations are interesting and fun to experience. Throwing my lightsabe to cut down a group of droids is exciting or using the force to throw enemies aside brings my inner childhood memories back of acting these very moments out as a child. I had an absolute blast racing in a pod racer and can hardly wait to build my own race course. This is what Disney Infinity is all about. Being a child, or playing with your own kids and sharing the experience. Build what you want, how you want and share them with others will keep everyone coming back to Disney Infinity 3.0.
