Over the past weekend VGX gave out their awards and reveal some upcoming game announcements. One of the those announcements was the stunning remake of Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition. The once, current gen game will get a complete overhaul for next gen systems.
Lara Croft has been remodeled to unprecedented high definition detail powered for next gen systems. All new technology will allow for more realistic character movement, from Lara's hair, clothing, texture and movement, to the blood, sweat and tears that will make for an all more realistic and believable origin story. Lara is not the only one to get a remake. The world has been brought to another level with the help of new technology allowing for a more dynamic world that simulates tree movements, foliage, cloth, weather, and lighting. Texture resolution have been created at 4x the higher resolution giving the power for more realistic in-game characters, enemies, and destructibility, all the while in a beautiful 1080p native resolution.
“’Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition’ is so named as it’s exactly what
we’ve custom built for the Xbox One and PlayStation®4 system consoles,”
said Crystal Dynamics Executive Producer, Scot Amos. “The new hardware
let us finally express the original vision in all of its glory. This was
a continued labor of love. We pulled the game apart and rebuilt it with
painstaking detail to add enhanced visual storytelling but without
changing the award winning tale. The end result is a cinematic living
world. We can’t wait for fans and newcomers alike to experience this
rebuilt epic adventure.”
Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition will include all of the original downloadable content, plus the digital versions of the Dark Horse comics, a mini-art book and the incredible behind the scenes developer videos - Final Hours. Those who rush out to pre-order the game will receive a special art book revealing never before seen concept art. Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition will remake its way to next gen consoles January 28th 2014.
