Ubisoft surprised us last year at E3 with the announcement of Watch Dogs and keeping with their tradition they did it again this year with the announcement of The Division.
Society is collapsing all around us, chaos is everywhere and supplies are limited to undesirable measures. There is no food or water, medical help is no longer available and society is failing. A self supported classified tactical unit is being formed. You play as an agent from The Division, a trained operative with one goal in mind, bringing society back to order in New York City.
The Division is an on-line, open world, RPG game. Ubisoft wants you to play this connected on-line world with friends, whether it be through your console of choice or they will have tablet and smart phone functionality. With adding tablet and smart phone functionality you will be able to play as a drone to help your friends from anywhere in the world and at any time. Friends will be able to drop in and drop out without interference of your game making it easy to be connected at all times. You may pick a gender from the start of the game but from there it will be up to you to shape you character and play style. You are not constrained to one class of character and will be able to customize your squads play style on-the-fly to suit each situation.
With a high tech feel that The Division is bringing with the Smart Watch and a holographic map that comes out of the ground and a pulse effect one can’t help but look towards the upcoming Watch Dogs and Splinter Cell Blacklist that is coming before it. How will The Division set itself apart from some very high tech inspired games coming first? After watching the demo the promise seems very high and Massive Ent. will have lots to live up to. The Division is very high on our radar and we will be following The Division closely until release in 2014 when we can get hands-on. Stay with us as we will keep you up to date on everything from The Division.
