Playstation 4 Event High Lights
With GDC behind us, we look back at some of Sony's highlights from the conference, some of the topics discussed were rather tech heavy and just over our heads. More aimed more for the developers that attended the conference then the gamers themselves.
1.Chris Norton hosted the conference and talked a bit about the hard drive. However he did not go into great details about it, only that all PS4’s will have a large hard drive. As we move into more of a digital age and downloading becomes the future of most of our content being consumed in this manner the bigger that HD could be the better.
2.Chris discussed that their focus is on the core gamers first then more towards a central console unit. GAMERS FIRST means more rich game content and better for gamers all around.
3.Chris touched on the Dual Shock 4 controller, though most of us know about the redesign adding a touch pad (which is clickable) and reshaping the L2/R2 buttons and now there is no Select/Start button, replaced with the “Options” and “Share” buttons. The share button was expressed as a hardware feature that is done in the background through the hardware system, not something the developers have to implement into games, it’s already in place for the gamers. The touch pad features a 1920 x 900 resolution. The light bar will replace the controller numbers. Blue light – Player 1, Red light – Player 2, Green light – Player 3 and finally Pink for Player 4. It will also change colors to help change the tone of a game – blue to help give a somber feeling or a bright color to enlighten the situation. The light bar could also flash like the burst from a muzzle. All these features are for the developers to use if they choose to.
4.Speaker, headphone jack and extension ports are placed near the bottom of the controller. Each PS4 console will include a mic and a controller and we are hoping the camera as well.
5.PS4 eye high sensitive dual color camera 1280 x 800 with its own dedicated port, no longer using up a USB slot.
6.With the help of the new camera players can now post walkthrough videos, allow you to taunt in kill cams and now log in with speech recognition similar to the Xbox Kintec. The camera can recognize where each controller is placed as per each player in a split screen game and if one player was to move to the other side of they’re friend the camera recognizing this and moves the player on screen to accommodate.
These features are exciting to hear, however getting a hands-on feel will tell us if the PS4 is worth all the hype and attention it’s getting. Stay with us as we will cover more PS4 leading up to E3 and its release.

PS4 Specs are in! PS4 uses the X86
CPU and has 8GB of memory and a local hard drive. It uses APU
technology and GDDR5 memory, which is typically reserved for "top of the
line, high end graphics cards."
PlayStation 4 supports suspending and reloading play
sessions. The console has a secondary chip for uploading and downloading
in the background. Digital games can be played as they are being downloaded.
