More Uncharted…Good or Bad?
Uncharted Golden Abyss is more of the same. Good old Nathan Drake is back and in the palm of your hands. I was very impressed by how Sony Bend was able to take such a beloved series and stay true to it’s adaptation on a new handheld. This is something that is often ruined in transition. You can’t help but have a good time when playing UC GA on this beautiful OLED screen that the Vita has to offer.
There are a few things to note. This is a first gen Vita game with impressive graphics. I can only imagine how this will improve as the developers become more familiar with the hardware. This being the Vita’s go to game at launch, I can’t help but wonder if Sony Bend felt it necessary to use all of the Vita’s bells and whistles. Front touch, rear touch and gyroscope.
I didn’t find it necessary at times to tap and swipe the screen to strike people when we are so use to tapping the button’s with our fingers. It felt as though I was taken out of the game experience from these actions instead of enjoying the same feeling I get from playing the big brother series. To do some of these actions at the beginning of the game is something new and exciting, but as the game goes on it feels more of a distraction.
One of the highlights of the game is the aiming system, which allows you to tilt the Vita when lining up that perfect head shot. Personally I wish more games would use this idea on the Vita and PS3. This is it for Uncharted for awhile. Will there be another Uncharted 4 or Golden Abyss 2 in the future? Only time will tell.
Stay tuned to find more with Uncharted when the time comes.
