Local musician celebrates Easter on a good note with
 The Villa Retirement Lodge

Recently, Residents from The Villa Retirement Lodge enjoyed live music from Bob Cook to celebrate Easter and to start the holiday weekend on a good note!
Every note from the musician with his acoustic guitar brought old popular tunes to life.  Naturally, all of The Villa Retirement Lodge’s  Residents sang along with him during the Easter Party celebration while enjoying their favorite “happy hour” beverage.
For more information on The Villa Retirement Lodge or the opportunity to volunteer please contact Brandon Roi, Customer Service Coordinator, at (705)526-4238 ext 218 or

Midland Curling Funspiel
For 5 years Bayfield House & Villa Care Retirement Lodges have sponsored the Midland Curling Funspiel. The event is open to the clubs daytime curlers. 75 curlers participated with 20 teams registered. The Funspiel is unique with two normal ends and the other two ends are unusual. Example in the last two ends they may score with all the rocks in a certain area as opposed to the centre of the house. This event was organized by Karen Mallany.

Villa Retirement Lodge 1st place, early draw winners were: Jennifer Ransier – General Manager Villa Retirement Home, Bob Richardson (skip), Richard Duvall, Anita Fegerty, Geoff Barley

Local animals visit
The Villa Retirement Lodge

Recently, Residents from The Villa Retirement Lodge
had a visit from local family members and friends.  With them were, what many consider to be “a man’s best friend”, two local dogs.
Brandon Roi, the new Customer Service Coordinator at The Villa Retirement Lodge, leaped at the chance to have such a visit for the Residents.  When asked if their respective dogs could come in for a visit, the reaction was immediately very positive and welcomed.  “I would like to start bringing in more animals to visit our Residents more frequently” says Brandon.
Initially, the visit from family and friends was for specific Residents, however, word travelled quickly throughout the retirement community and several other Residents came to visit with the dogs.  One Resident claimed “that was the most friendly and beautiful dog I have ever seen”.
It is amazing how animals in general, of course more specifically dogs, can brighten our day and lift our spirits so easily!
For more information on The Villa Retirement Lodge or the opportunity to volunteer bringing in your pets for visits please contact Brandon Roi, Customer Service Coordinator, at (705)526-4238 ext 218 or broi@jarlette.com.

The Villa Retirement Lodge supports
Good Food Box

Brandon Roi and Jennifer Ransier from The Villa Retirement Lodge recently purchased fresh produce from the North Simcoe Good Food Box. The Villa Retirement Lodge follows Canada’s Food Guide which encourages healthy food choices and eating habits within their daily operations.

The Good Food Box is a group of community volunteers who meet monthly to purchase local fresh produce.  Their goal and The Villa Retirement Lodge’s goal is to promote healthy eating, support the local community, and support our volunteers which certainly coincides with Jarlette’s motto: to make an outstanding difference in the lives of others.
Brandon and Jennifer decided to purchase the Good Food Box because every month brings different varieties of produce, whichever happens to be in season at that time.  This encourages us and others to try new fruits and vegetables that we may not have otherwise eaten.
So here’s to good healthy choices and to The Villa Retirement Lodge’s continued commitment to supporting our local community!
For more information on the Good Food Box or The Villa Retirement Lodge please contact Brandon Roi Customer Service Coordinator (705)526-4238 ext 218

Enjoying an afternoon tea in the new Cafe

Sisterly love

Sisterly love. Submitted photo

MIDLAND – Elaine Shay, right, and her sister Helen enjoy a close moment after reuniting recently at Simcoe Manor in Beeton.

Shay lives at the Villa Retirement Lodge in Midland, and is unable to see her big sister very often. A Villa staff member learned of the situation and hatched a plan to organize a visit.

The sisters spent an hour together holding hands, sharing hugs and swapping stories. They were then treated to a special lunch before saying their farewells.

The Villa welcomes new General Manager Jennifer Ransier!
We look forward to getting to know you

April 15 was our Daffodil Tea, an afternoon of friends, decadent treats, entertainment and a time of giving.  This year Banana Baskets donated a gift basket which was raffled off at our Tea.  All proceeds from the raffle went to the Canadian Cancer Society. $105.00 was raised to help fight back against cancer. Some of the ladies from The Georgian Shores Swinging Seniors also joined us in support of our fund raising event.  Thank you to all who helped make our afternoon a success as well as a pleasurable afternoon.

St. Patrick's Day' at The Villa Retirement Lodge

It was a good time, green as an irish spring, at the Villa Retirement Lodge this past Paddy's Day. Green drinks, huge laughs, and fine, fine music. I guess it's true what they say, 'Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's Day'.

The Villa Retirement Lodge and Care Centre had a visit from the King himself at their Summerfest party held in June...

MIDLAND – Anyone can be an artist, no matter what their age or ability.
That’s the philosophy of local artist Polly Sharp, who has spent the past few months leading art workshops at the Villa Care Centre in Midland thanks to a partnership with Quest Art School and Gallery.

Katie Cantwell on the right and Laura Elliot on the left are two coop students from the Grade 12 class at Penetanguishe Secondary School.  They both expressed an interest in getting involved in health care for their future careeers, and therefore chose to come to The Villa Retirement Lodge for their co op placements.  The residents love them!  They are very energetic, kind and friendly and they are a pleasure to have on our team until June.  The girls come in Monday to Friday either all morning or all afternoon to help out in all the different activities that go on in the Lodge, interacting with residents and assisting with programs.  The Villa is happy at to participate in the Co op program, it benefits our community as well as our youth.
