DON'T MISS TOMORROW'S CONVERSATION WITH LEADERS AND LEGENDS - DECEMBER 11TH
We think you’ll be inspired by our next A Day in the Life speaker... and here’s why
Diane Dupuy’s new passion project challenges youth and teens to Dare to be Different!
As we’ve highlighted all week, founder of the black light theatre company, Famous PEOPLE Players, author, award-winner and humanitarian, Diane Dupuy is in town for one special evening at the Midland Cultural Centre on Tuesday December 11, 2018.
Diane will be speaking with Fred Hacker, about the extraordinary challenges she’s overcome since her youth, from dropping out of school and being told she had no value to offer, to the hurdles she went on to face on the journey to realizing her dream.
She has used her will power and determination to build what is now, Famous PEOPLE Players, and continues to empower people with physical and intellectual disabilities through employment and leadership.
Diane’s achievements have inspired both individuals and corporations – and now she is turning her sights to a new passion project for youth and teens called “Dare to be Different!” which aims to educate children and parents on the dangers of excessive screen time.
Gaming and screens are now the norm among today’s younger generation starting as young as 6 and 7 years old. But violent video games, multiple social media platforms and excessive texting are influencing young brains and creating anxiety, depression, an inability to concentrate and poor school performance.
Through a new series of workshops, Dare! will empower young participants to think outside the box, so they can face new challenges and choices with confidence and resilience.
“At FPP, we are concerned about kids’ dependence on technology for entertainment. Their time, energy and focus are being consumed with gaming,” said Dupuy. “We can help open their minds to the world of possibilities that come from human interaction, confidence building, and creativity. We want children not to be afraid and Dare to be Different as they pursue their dreams!”
Consider joining us for “A Day in the Life: In Conversation with Leaders & Legends” on December 11th to learn more about this exciting initiative and Diane’s other successes. As well, please share our Facebook Event with a friend, teacher or parent that you feel may share these same sentiments and are looking for some inspiration!
