Carla here from the MCC! Just in case you missed our July line up, here’s what we have coming up. With such a variety of shows, there is definitely something for everyone at the MCC!
1920’s Ragtime trio,
THE VAUDEVILLIAN will perform at the MCC on July 6
th. The Vaudevillian have a unique sound that bring you the drinking & dancing tunes from the prohibition period. With washboards, upright bass, resonator guitar, kazoos, car horns and a marionette bass, you'll be ready to do the Skoodle um Skoo! Winner at the Hamilton Music Award for Best Roots Album 2015 and for Best Folk/Traditional Album 2016. This is one group you will want to see. Check out last week’s article on The Vaudevillian in the

Swedish folk band
FRANDER take the stage on July 12
th. Fränder is an exciting folk quartet from Sweden who perform with joy, energy and superb musicianship. Specializing in the folk music of Sweden and Estonia, the band features exquisite sibling harmonies and an infectious enthusiasm that make for an unforgettable musical experience. They breathe vibrant new life into a traditional folk genre with their complex arrangements and extensive musical skills. Be sure to check out Fränder!
On July 15
th our Sizzling Summer Concert Series presents
GREASE: A TRIBUTE TO THE MUSIC sponsored by Beacon Bay Marina. This show features a superb cast and a repertoire that covers some of the greatest songs of the 50s and 60s. Re-live the days of soda pop and drive-ins, poodle skirts, greased back hair, winged Cadillac’s, those hazy summer days, and of course….the music! A great night of entertainment for the entire family.

PRETZEL LOGIC: A TRIBUTE TO STEELY DAN on July 20
th sponsored by Wye Heritage Marina. Pretzel Logic is a ten-piece band whose dedicated members play with a passion the music of Steely Dan, whose legendary hits include: “Reelin’ in the Years”, “Josie”, and “Peg”.
The music of Steely Dan crosses many musical boundaries. From their jazzy horn lines and smooth vocals, to rock guitar licks and funky grooves, their appeal is wide ranging. With an array of classic songs that ease you into your seat, and upbeat tunes that get you dancing, Steely Dan’s repertoire has an impact on everyone.
DAVID CLAYTON-THOMAS will wrap things up on July 28
th. David Clayton-Thomas began his amazing journey as a homeless street kid and developed into one of the most recognizable voices in music, to date selling over 40 million records. In 1996 he was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and in 2007 his jazz/rock composition “Spinning Wheel” was enshrined in the Songwriter’s Hall Of Fame. In 2010 David received his star on Canada’s Walk Of Fame.
His 1968 debut album with Blood Sweat & Tears sold 10 million copies worldwide. The self-titled record topped the Billboard album chart for seven weeks, and charted for a staggering 109 weeks. It won an unprecedented five Grammy awards, including Album Of The Year and Best Performance By A Male Vocalist. It featured three hit singles, “You Made Me So Very Happy” “And When I Die”,” and “Spinning Wheel”.
