On May 5th the MCC presents our very first Black Gospel Concert – SWING LOW: The Best of Black Gospel Music featuring the “Band of Christians” from Springfield, Illinois. This much anticipated concert will be truly remarkable and will also feature a return visit by Titus Chapman.
Guitar extraordinaire PIERRE BENSUSAN will perform at the MCC on May 12th. They say if “World Music” is music that pays tribute to the spirit of a collection of human beings through distinct rhythms, traditional instruments and harmonic colors, French-Algerian guitarist, singer and composer Pierre Bensusan can be recognized as one of the most eloquent and world musicians today.
On May 14th, The Written Word meets Tiffin Bay Folk Club as a performance poet and a singer-songwriter/author take the stage together. GARNET ROGERS & PETER PAUL VAN CAMP have a unique show in store for audiences with Peter Paul reading his extraordinary poems, and Garnet Rogers singing a few songs and reading passages from his memoir. What a great combination this will be!
UKE FEST 2017 is finally here May 19th to the 21st. This is the Midland Cultural Centre’s 2nd Annual ukulele festival. We will be offering a number of ukulele workshops, jam sessions and performances for players of all skill levels. Headlining our Saturday night concert this year is the award winning, ukulele-cello duo JAMES HILL & ANNE JANELLE.
