The 5 member ensemble engages its audience with exciting, innovative genre-diverse programming including Classical, the syncopated rhythms of Ragtime, The Great American Songbook, Latin and other Jazz-related styles. No matter the genre, there is magic in Ensemble Vivant’s music-making.”
Catherine Wilson, Piano & Artistic Director
Pianist CATHERINE WILSON “… the pride of Canada…” (Burlington Standard Press, U.S.A.), has won the hearts of fans and critics for her inspired passionate artistry, sensitive musicality, and innovative imaginative programming. Founder/artistic director of Ensemble Vivant, “Canada’s Chamber Music Treasure”, (John Terauds, Toronto Star).
Corey Gemmell, Violin
Violinist Corey Gemmell has distinguished himself as a soloist and chamber musician with performances in Canada, Germany, the U.S.A. and China;Member of the Elgin String Quartet; Ensemble Vivant’s violinist since 2014, touring and recording extensively with the group.
Norman Hathaway, Viola
Violist/Violinst Norman Hathaway is a sought-after orchestral and chamber musician. He was concertmaster of Te Deum Orchestra; has been a member of Hamilton Philharmonic, Stratford Festival Orchestra, Quintessence, Toronto and Ontario Philharmonic Orchestras; member of Elgin String Quartet; Ensemble Vivant violist since its beginning.
Tom Mueller, Cello
Tom Mueller (Cello) is a founding member of both the Allendale and Elgin String Quartets. Most recently, he is also a member of the highly acclaimed Ensemble Vivant.
George Koller, Bass
George Koller is a bassist, producer, composer, multi-instrumentalist and promoter of jazz and world music of all varieties.
