It's International Pink Shirt Day on Wednesday, April 13th to promote anti-bullying. The Simcoe County District School Board has an initiative called Paint the Town Pink.
It's been done in the past in Barrie and Collingwood and we hope to expand this year to Midland and Alliston.
Basically,
it's that local offices/businesses, etc. agree to have students
decorate their windows with a pink display for the week (April 11-15) to promote anti-bullying
town wide. (Display design would involve prior consultation with businesses.)
We
are looking for businesses who would like to participate. Students will
design (with consultation), make and install displays. Our current plan
is to create mosaics of
smaller artworks which, together, make a giant pink shirt in each
window.
We are also planning to have pink shirt displays on all the classroom doors in the school at the same time.
We would love it if businesses wished to participate. To do so, please contact me at bmain@scdsb.on.ca. Also, please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
I've attached a flyer with more information about the Day of Pink and the county wide project.
Huge
thanks to everyone for their support! We are very excited about this
project and the opportunity to partner with the community!
