JOHN POWER CENTRE
OFSC Districts and Clubs,
In 1967, John Powers, founder of the OFSC, had a vision for a federation of snowmobile clubs working collaboratively to support the growth of snowmobiling through a network of trails that would make Ontario one of the best places in the world to enjoy the sport we all love.
The new John Power Centre will serve not only the GBSR, but also the Orillia District Snowmobile Club as well. With a central location at 2060 Newton Street, in Victoria Harbour, this facility will be available for use by all ten clubs in the district, as well as the broader OFSC as needed. The John Power Center will provide the perfect location for meetings and training volunteers and staff, which is important to maintain the strength of the volunteer base.
Construction is set to begin in May, and through a great volunteer effort already underway, the lot has been cleared, with local contractors donating their time and equipment to build the facility. GBSR is now actively fundraising to secure donations of materials and funds to cover material costs and expenses that cannot be donated directly.
It is our hope that in dedicating this building to John’s vision, and in showing, yet again, what a group of committed volunteers can do that we will inspire youth and volunteers to continue to support this organization for generations to come.
